Importance of 5Rs for our environment

Nowadays it’s very important to understand the way we are living, it’s important to understand what we are doing for our planet.

Everyday we can learn something new that can change the way we are living.

It is important we teach people what we can all do to make this planet a better place, to make this country a cleaner place to live.

I wish all of us could and teach young people the importance of the Rs for our environment.

If you are not familiar with the 5Rs then here they are:

REFUSE
REDUCE
REUSE
REPAIR
RECYCLE

Refuse

This is the best way that we can help our planet and environment.

Refuse, simply means say NO.

Think if you need it and think it again. We can all start with small steps for example refusing:

It is time to stop using plastic bags
Straws
Plastic bottles
Refuse buying those veggies wraps in plastic
Refuse all those plastic plate and plastic cutlery
Bring your own Tupperware or any kind of box to restaurants

When you sit in a bar and you are sure that the drink that your order has a straw just says to them PLEASE NO STRAW. We really don’t need one, the only exception is if you have a special need or you are sick.

Refusing has to be at the top of our list.

Reduce

Simply means to lessen the amount of trash that will add to the environment. Think about what you use and buy.

Ways you can reduce your waste in for example:

Buy rechargeable batteries
Find products with minimal packaging.
You can reduce your trash by composting your fruits and veggies

Reuse

This means to find other uses for materials that are already used for example:

Reuse glass jars to storage groceries
Get some fabric bags to buy your veggies and fruits.
Reuse shipping containers that you already have.
Reuse printer cartridges, have them refilled.
You can always reuse those egg boxes or give them back to people that sell eggs at your green market.
If you can’t reuse them, at least try to recycle them.
